  Nokia 9210i in short
Nokia 9210 Communicator is equipped with Symbian OS 6.0 operating system and 32-bit RISC CPU based on ARM-9 series. The system is very powerful and supports multitasking. The phone module is based on dualband N6210 phone. N9210i has advanced memory structure. It features 16 MB of XIP (eXecute In Place) Flash Memory containing operating system and applications, 16 MB of serial Flash memory for user data and applications (internal drive C:), 8 MB of SDRAM memory (operating memory for program execution, about 4 MB free for the user) and a slot for storage memory expansion using MultiMedia Cards.
  9210i versus 9210
Nokia 9210i is a slightly improved version of the 9210, released in mid 2002. N9210i features faster memory, which boosts the overall system performance. Internal flash drive (disk C:) has been extended from 4 MB to 16 MB (at the expense of no memory card included). N9210i has bigger ROM drive, containing Java Runtimes. This makes Java applications work faster and doesn't take RAM memory. N9210i contains new, improved WWW browser based on Opera 6 (with support for SSL, Javascript, cascade style sheets, two windows and better "mouse" pointer), supports picture messaging, locking the memory card with password and audio/video streaming in HSCSD networks.

Nokia 9210i Communicator - First impressions

Announced on 12 March 2002, the Nokia 9210i Communicator is an improved version of the 9210 model. Looking almost identically as its predecessor, the 9210i brings several important enhancements and improvements.

First of all, the 9210i comes with four times bigger internal storage memory (16 MB compared to 4 MB in 9210). This allows installing all system applications in the internal memory instead of slower memory card and still leaves plenty of space for user data and applications. Of course, the device still supports expanding the storage space with Multimedia Cards. The latest firmware revisions (6.0 and up) provide support for large (256 and 512 megabyte) memory cards. Memory chips in the 9210i are now faster which slightly boosts the overall performance.

Another important improvement is that Personal Java runtimes are now included in the operating system stored in device's ROM memory. This not only makes them load and execute much faster than from the memory card, but also saves both user storage and operating memory. ROM-based Java runtimes are executed directly from the ROM-drive, which means than they don't take precious RAM, whereas in the previous model more than half of the operating memory is used by the Java runtimes and only small part of RAM can be used by the actual Java application. Now, with the 9210i Java developers can create much more advanced Personal Java applications that take advantage of the entire RAM pool.

Nokia 9210i comes with an improved WWW browser based on Opera 6.0. It provides support for WAP 1.1, HTML 4.0, XHTML 1.1, Javascript, Cascade Style Sheets and allows using two separate windows.

Nokia 9210i supports picture messaging. Enhanced security options include the possibility of locking the memory card with password. RealPlayer application now supports streaming audio and video contents in HSCSD enabled networks. Nokia 9210i provides support for vector graphics and comes with Macromedia Flash player.

All other features are the same as of Nokia 9210 model. Please see the 9210 Communicator Introduction for details.
